# Atari 8-bit collection sources

Original Atari 8-bit software and archive artwork. Each title retains its original copyright; the emulator GPL license does not apply to these files. Archive availability does not grant redistribution permission. The website is public; its source repository is private.

Raw XEGS dumps are wrapped in a standard CART header with their original payload unchanged. Other archived media payloads are copied byte-for-byte, except the explicitly documented My First Alphabet compatibility copy below. Heart Potato is a newly written Atari BASIC adaptation. The manifest records both hashes. Print Shop library disks are data disks, not boot programs.

The original picture loader's line 245 ends `INPUT #Q1;X,Y,` with a dangling comma. Altirra BASIC rejects it with error 8 when drawing a picture. The compatibility copy removes that comma and adjusts BASIC's statement offsets and saved-memory lengths. No other program statements or pictures are changed. `scripts/fix-alphabet.py` reproducibly builds the copy from the unchanged archive disk. SELECT (F3) chooses an activity; START (F4) opens or confirms it. The separate Graphics Editor disk is not included.

An original Atari adaptation inspired by heartpotato.com. E starts Easy; H starts Hard. Arrows/joystick choose a face-down card; Space/fire or Return reveals it. Each safe card scores one. A heart ends Easy and keeps points; in Hard it loses the run. Press B to bank in Hard. N/fire plays again; M returns to modes. Best and average are kept separately until the computer restarts.

Two-player cooperative game. The opening sequence lasts about a minute. At “WELCOME, NUTNIKS!”, press Enter (RETURN) for instructions, then Enter again to play. Left/Right arrows move the yellow Nutnik; Space, Alt or joystick fire jumps. The green Nutnik uses joystick port 2: connect a second gamepad, or choose Joystick 2 under Workshop → Controls. Catch stars to make sandwiches, eat to regain energy, and use the spring together to reach the highest stars.
